Who is IAO?
Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa was born on the 8th Of July, 1959 at Owa-Alero in the present Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State. He had his early education at the Iroro Primary School, Owa-Alero and later attended the famous Edo College, Benin City between 1970 and 1976. He graduated with the second best result in the Higher School Certificate Examination in the then Bendel State in 1976. Thereafter, he went to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State and graduated in 1981 at the age of 22.
One thing that put Governor Okowa in good stead for the job was his vast experience in the Executive and Legislative arms of government. Having served as local government Secretary/Chairman, three-time Commissioner in the State, Secretary to the State Government, and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he stepped into the Office of Governor fully prepared and well-equipped.
The Okowa administration has reduced the poverty level in the state through numerous job & wealth creation programmes. This led to the rating of the state as the second least poor people in the country.
